Mercuryo has unveiled Passkey, a biometric authentication feature aimed at streamlining Web3 payments. The solution replaces traditional one-time passcodes with fingerprint or face ID verification, enabling users to access accounts using only their device's screen lock. Developed by the FIDO Alliance, Passkey stores encrypted credentials locally on users' devices, eliminating vulnerabilities associated with SMS or email-based OTPs.

The integration will be available across Mercuryo's network of 200+ partners, including major non-custodial wallets like Trust Wallet. Compatible with iPhone, Android, and Windows devices, the feature enhances security while reducing friction in the login process—a persistent pain point in Web3 adoption.

CEO Petr Kozyakov emphasized the dual benefit of improved usability and heightened security: "Passkey delivers an intuitive login experience while significantly strengthening user data protection." The move signals Mercuryo's commitment to lowering barriers for mainstream crypto adoption through technological innovation.
